What is Homeopathy?

an image

Homeopathy is the second most widely used system of medicine in the world and over thirty million people in Europe already benefit from homeopathic treatment.

Homeopathy is an effective system of healing which assists the natural tendency of the body to repair itself. It recognises that symptoms of ill health are expressions of disharmony within the whole person and that it is the patient who needs treatment not the disease.

In 1796, a German doctor, Samuel Hahnemann, discovered a different approach to the cure of the sick which he called homeopathy (from the Greek words meaning 'similar suffering'). He realised that there were two ways of treating ill health: the way of opposites, most commonly used by conventional medicine (antibiotics, antifungals, anti-inflammatories) and the way of similars , 'like cures like'.

Think of an onion! When an onion is chopped, it can cause watery, streaming eyes and a runny nose. The Homeopathic remedy Allium Cepa, which is derived from onions, is one of the remedies used to treat these symptoms and is often prescribed for the common cold and hayfever.

Homeopathy can play an important part in boosting your immune system and preventing disease as it empowers you and brings you back into balance. When the correct remedy is taken, results can be rapid, complete and permanent.
